Beyond Fashion - Graphics Pack

Beyond Fashion is a yearly event held by the College of Art and Design at RIT to honor the late Massimo Vignelli, designer of the NYC Subway map in 1979. The event is also a collaboration of artists from every corner of the university -- I was in charge of the background motion graphics for the show.

Problem Statement
The Fashion show features 6 individual fashion designers all showcasing their work, with the show lasting from 7-9. A friend of mine coordinating the show reached out for help, but gave me a tight deadline of a week, as there were a few complications with production. The task? Creating 2 hours of background graphics.
Looping Animations
Since there were 6 individual designers, I created 6 looping animations that complimented their specific style. Each loop averages 3-4 seconds, and was extended to 10 minutes to play during each designer's segment. The loops would also alternate among primary colors to switch it up a bit!
Title Cards
Each designer was to be introduced as if they were a subway stop, followed by the classic "stand clear of the closing doors" announcement. To compliment this, I created graphics mimicking a moving subway car.
In-Between Animations
These animations played for an hour long loop, prior to the show starting as people got in their seats. They were also used in between the individual designers.
Inspiration
Since Vignelli's biggest work was on the NYC Subway map redesign, I adhered to his style of bold colors and strokes. For the 3D city segments, I was inspired by the simple stroke outlines of the environments from the 1982 film Tron.
